AFTERCARE GUIDE

Approximate healing time and what to expect:

Week 1: Fresh Piercing!

The area will likely be irritated for up to a week, expect some swelling, redness or bleeding.

Week 2-4: Healing Phase

For the first month of your new piercing you’re likely to experience some yellow crustiness around the wound- DO NOT pick it off.

Week 5: Matured Phase

After the first month the redness should be nearly gone, continue to clean (and remember, DO NOT pick off the crusties!)

Week 8-12: Time to downsize!

Come into the studio for a checkup and we’ll evaluate if the length and style of the jewellery is best for the rest of your healing period.

Oral Piercings:

- Use alcohol-free mouthwash twice daily

- Swelling is normal for the first 2 weeks

- Downsize in 2-6 weeks to avoid unnecessary damage to teeth/gums.

- Rinse with cold water after you eat

- While healing avoid any smoking or alcohol or excessive amounts of caffeine as these can dry out the piercing

Facial Piercings:

- Clean twice daily with saline solution

- Do not twist or turn jewellery

- Do not sleep on your piercing

- Prevent makeup, sunscreen, and other beauty/ cosmetic products from entering the piercing site

Torso Piercings:

- Follow ‘Facial Piercings’ aftercare

- Female nipple piercings should be protected with fresh nursing pads or sterile gauze for the first 2 months

- Avoid any bodily fluids while healing

- They may take up to 6 months to settle

If you are concerned about the healing of your piercing or have some questions about your aftercare routine, we strongly recommend making an appointment to check it’s healing well!
